I’d really like to make the switch from a PC to the Mac for creative purposes. The things you can do on a mac are beyond what I could do on a PC. I’d really like to explore the world of photo-shop, video making, and podcasting(possibly).
Okay, so long story short, I want a Mac! I’m not going to be making feature films or anything, so I don’t really think I need a Macbook Pro. I’d like to spend as little money as possible and still have a quality machine. I am also thinking of buying a refurbished mac. They are exactly the same as a new mac, but without the fancy packaging!
I would like to get the regular white macbook. I’m having trouble with which one to get, though. The:
1GB Memory,
120GB Hardrive
Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
or the
2GB memory
160GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Should I get the one with more ram and hardrive, as well as a “SuperDrive”? Could someone please explain to me what that is?
I also have two computer-people in my family. My uncle is a huge mac-person, and he works in the website design industry and such. My other uncle is a PC-Repairman, but his wife has a Mac(Haha…), so he works with that, too. They are both familiar with Macs, so they could help me install more RAM if needed..
So, what do you think I should go for? I don’t want to download a few things and have a full Mac. Also, I think I might use Bootcamp to download Windows XP so that I can run some of my favorite Computer Games that don’t work on The Mac. Does that take up a lot of memory?
Thanks for the help!
Oops, I forgot to mention that the first Macbook has a 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, and the second one has a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. Just wanted to mention that! =]
